How to Use the Product/System Browser

Introducing Favorite Products

You can now save your favorite products at any time and come back to them whenever you need to.

To work with the Favorite Products you need to be logged in to the system.  You see the products you have saved as your favorites in a list on the lower left hand side of the screen whenever you use the Wizards or the Product Browser.  To add a product to your favorites click on the " Star + " icon on the upper right hand of the screen when that product is shown.

When you don't need the Favorite Products, you can collapse it by clicking the button on its title bar and open it again by clicking the same button.

I want to step through - browse - the entire content of the tool.  How can I do that?

This tool is an alternative method for navigating Honeywell products.  It is not as conversational as the wizards, yet it has access to much more information and can still be quite easy to use.  The Browser uses a "Windows Explorer" method of operation, where products are grouped and shown in folders.  The "+" signs next to the folders can be clicked on and opened, enabling the user to navigate product hierarchies until reaching a desired product.  As the user continues to expand the "+" signs, the navigation goes deeper and deeper, until the end is reached.  At the end, the user can click on the item, and information on that particular item is presented to the user in the document display window.

The Browser allows users to navigate through the complete content of the Workbench, and does so in two ways:

To use the browser, do the following:

  1. Start by expanding the "+" sign on either the "Function/Type" or the "Product/System Name" sections.
    1. Alternatively, you may click the "Expand Tree" button which is just above the tree to expand the entire tree structure.  Note that this will take a few seconds to deploy.
    2. The tree can be contracted as well by clicking on the "Collapse Tree" button which is on the right of Expand Tree button.

  1. Continue expanding the "+" sign to proceed deeper into any one subject area.

  1. With few exceptions, all content is located at the end (far right) of the tree - that is, when any one branch has been expanded to its maximum amount.

  1. When the end of a branch has been reached, a recommended system or product will be shown on the branch.

  1. To view the information on that product or system, click on the product/system name.
    1. Information will be downloaded, and presented to you in the information display window on the rights side of the screen.
    2. As some of the files are large, and Internet performance varies greatly, the time will vary for information to be presented.

  1. Click on the gray buttons across the top to view different groupings of information on that product. Information has been organized to help users navigate through them in a quick and efficient manner.  The buttons are a way of subdividing the content into various "categories".

The number of buttons varies by product and is dependent on what information is available.  Those button categories are as follows:

Info Summary -- This is a one-page listing of all the information provided as part of the main product being viewed.  Items listed are linked to the particular documents, which means that you can click on any one of the links to view that particular item.  Often times there are many items listed under the section "related items" -- this is because this represents a listing of many of the accessory or related items that work with the main product being viewed.  For example, for the HVAC DDC controller mentioned above, the related info area would present to the user a list of sensors, actuators and other accessories that work with that DDC controller.
Overview -- This is a higher-level document that as its name implies, provides an overview of the item.  It typically is a brochure that can be helpful when making an initial review of a product to ascertain whether or not it meets certain requirements.
Tech Info -- This is a more detailed document, and is typically a specification datasheet.  This is the document typically used as part of a project submittal.

Config Info -- This is generally a document or presentation that presents information on configuring or applying this product as part of a system.

Guide Spec -- This is a text document that can be used by a consulting/specifying engineer in a project specification.

Related Info -- This is typically a key accessory device or option to the main product being viewed.  For example, for an HVAC DDC Controller, there may be a recommended wall sensor presented.
Reference Info -- This is a document that provides background, training or deeper application information.  For HVAC products, deep links into the Engineering Manual of Automatic Control are typically provided.  Other types of information include white papers.
Case Studies -- This is a write up on an actual customer site where this particular product has been installed.

What do I do if the product or system information I am looking for is not here?

Even though this tool contains a lot of information on many Honeywell products and systems, the Workbench does not contain everything that Honeywell has to offer. If you cannot find the information you are looking for, Honeywell’s Customer Assistance Center is available to assist in most cases by sending the literature being requested and/or having a sales representative follow up with you.  Click on the Assistance Menu and select your desired submenu for contacting us.
