Search Overview

Search Input

Search input is provided on the home pages as well as on the product seach page.  The text box is where you would need to enter your keywords.

- Enter keywords in the Search Input text box

- Click the round arrow icon next to the text box or simply click the return key for starting a search.

For your convenience the last Search is preserved in the system as long as your session is active.  Whenever you come back to the search page you will see your last search with the keywords and the results.

• To modify the search term just click on the serach box and use your arrow and delete keys to change the keywords
• To replace the existing keywords with new ones, double click the existing words to highlight them and type the replacement word.

Search Results

Search results are displayed under two separate tabs as shown below.

- Site and Products

The results from the site and products are shown under this tab.  The links from these results will take to the pages on the site where the information is found or will bring up the products that have a match with the search criteria.

- Gray Manual (Manual of Automatic Controls)

The results from the search of the Gray Manual are shown under this tab.  The links from these results will take you to the pages of the Gray Manual where the information is found.

How to Search

Enter one or more words in the search input's text box.  Each word is searched and the results are shown in the order of relevance.

• You can enter a partial word for search.  For example entering W76 will find all instances of W7620, W7600 etc.

• Any two or more words are combined in OR fashion.  Meaning that any instance of one or more of the words are found.  Results are listed based on their relevance as explained below.

Relevance

Relevance is shown as number in the form of yyxxx as a part of each search result.  The yy and xxx are calculated as: 
yy - how many of the specified words found in the results
xxx - how many times the words were found in the results 

If the rank is 1xxx it means that one word was found xxx times. If the rank is 2yyy it means that two words were found a total of yyy times. 

For example, if the Search is Honeywell  Thermostat

If serach result 1 contains Honeywell 5 times and Thermostat 3 times, then Relevance is 2008
If search result 2 contains Honeywell 3 times, then Relevance is 1003 
If search result 3 contains Honeywell 4 times then Relevance is 1004
